Understanding Notification Channels

Notification channels determine where alerts are sent when Trackr detects changes. You can configure multiple channels and select which ones to use for each task.

Setting Up Channels

General Setup Steps

  1. Navigate to Notification Channels in your dashboard
  2. Click "Create New Channel"
  3. Select your channel type (Email, Slack, Discord, etc.)
  4. Enter required credentials or webhook URLs
  5. Test the channel to verify it works
  6. Save and enable the channel

Using Channels in Tasks

Once you've created notification channels, you can select which ones to use for each task:

  1. When creating or editing a task, find the "Notification Channels" section
  2. Select one or more channels from your configured list
  3. You can choose different channels for different tasks
  4. Email channel is selected by default for new tasks

Pro Tip: Multiple Channels

You can select multiple channels for a single task. For example, send email for all changes but also post to Slack for high-priority alerts.

Channel Selection Best Practices

✓ Use Email as Fallback

Always include email as one of your channels. It's free, reliable, and supports attachments like screenshots.

✓ Match Urgency to Channel

Use SMS or instant messaging (Slack/Discord) for time-sensitive alerts. Use email for less urgent tracking.

✓ Separate Personal and Team Channels

Create separate channels for personal notifications vs. team collaboration. Route different tasks accordingly.

✓ Test Before Production

Always test new channels before using them in production tasks. Use the test notification feature.
